History
Nicky & Georgina first met in their intermediate school. After the first day of school, Georgina was asked by her friend about the boys at the school. She said, "There's only one handsome boy at school, but I don't think he had even noticed me." On the other hand, Nicky told his mum, "I've found the girl that I'm going to marry."
That's how the story began.

It took them 3 years to start a conversation with each other. And, Nicky at last built up his courage to ask Georgina out. He asked help from a friend who went to school by the same bus as Georgina. To his disappointment, Georgina said, "No!" After that, it took another year for Nicky to ask her out once more. And this time the answer was yes.

Nicky started dating with Georgina. They have been through thick and thin, even when Nicky came back from Leeds with a broken heart because his football career was over. Georgina's always there for him and back him up. It's her that encouraged Nicky to go to the audition of Westlife.

Nicky about Georgina:
"I’m blessed with someone who knows me so well and loves me so much. And what we’re experiencing now is a far cry from the days when I returned from Leeds and Georgina used to pay for my Chinese takeaway out of her pocket money. We’ve grown up together and love each other – and I’ve always know that she’s my nbumber one and I’m hers, no matter what.” I had my first kiss when I was about ten during a game of dares or something like that. When I was younger I went to discos and had slow dances with girls and would go out with them for a couple of weeks, but never much more than that. I’d never had a serious girlfriend until I met Georgina at school. As a lot of the fans know already, Georgina’s dad is the Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, and we’ve been together for five years. The first time I saw her was when I walked into the classroom during the first year at secondary school. She was sitting at the first desk and I liked her immediately. She is very pretty and has beautiful eyes and there was something special about her from day one. I love a refined lady, a prim and proper person, and that is Georgina in a nutshell. I came home that day and said to my mum, “I’ve found the girl for me.”
For ages I didn’t know what to say to Georgina and she was so shy she wouldn’t talk to me either. I didn’t have a clue how to break the ice, so it was like, Today I will smile at her, and stupid things like that. I would do laps of the corridors in between classes, so I would pass her. I liked her for two years before I got to know her. Her dad was the Minister for Finance back then and she lived in an upmarket area of Dublin, and I thought that if I ever went out with her it would be like the love story in the film Titanic. I used to accuse other guys of fancying Georgina, but it was just my way of talking about her without letting out my secret. We were in two classes together and I looked forward to those lessons more than any others. By the third year, liking her so much was cracking me up and I had to do something. A guy in my class called Michael Heynes used to get the same bus home as her, so I got to him to ask her if she would go out with me. He came in the next day and told me the answer was no. I tried to act like I wasn’t bothered, but I was dying inside.
A year later, my mate Cos got Anita Tracey who was a friend of Georgina’s to ask her for me. This time she said yes and it was the best news of my life. The first night we went out was the day before my sixteenth birthday. We went to a party, but we didn’t start seeing each other properly until a few months later. I was really nervous when I met her dad for the first time, but he was great. We went out for a dinner and it was nothing like Titanic. He’s just a normal Dublin guy and he never hides that fact. He’s not a snob or anything and goes down the local pub every Sunday with his family and chats to the other guys over a pint. Georgina’s mam and her sister Cecelia are brilliant and I’m very close to them.
I think I loved Georgina the first time I saw her, but it was really strengthened while I was away at Leeds. She stuck by me through everything. When I came back I felt like a failure. I cried all the time and felt my life was going nowhere. Georgina always showed me the light at the end of the tunnel and she got me through my Leaving Certificate exams – all I did was turn up. I owe her an awful lot. We haven’t got any long-term plans because we are both so young, but we are very happy. She’s got a busy life as well and she doesn’t mind the attention I get from the fans. If they come to the house, she talks to them, and when I’m in the UK they’re always asking me how she is.

Engagement
On 2002 Christmas Eve, Nicky phoned Georgina's dad Bertie and mum Miriam for the same issue - getting their permission to marry their daughter. And, on Christmas day, Nicky asked Georgina out for a walk on a beach. Then, dramatically, Nicky got down on one knee and proposed to Georgina. He also took out the engagement ring that he bought 3 months before. To Georgina's surprise, Nicky bought her a dog(Keano) that she's always scared of. Of course Georgina accepted the proposal.
Wedding
Wicklow Wedding
In the morning, journalists were allowed up to inspect the register book and registry office on the first floor, fitted out with chairs for the couple, two witnesses and 30 guests. The room has peach walls and a blue carpet;

at the top is a small table where wedding registrar Ms Catherina Long usually sits. The "wedding" took place in Wicklow, South of Dublin. The ceremony lasted for 15 minutes and at 4.07pm(in a tiny registry room in Wicklow’s East Coast Health Centre) Georgina & Nicky tied the knot for the first time. Despite being one of the hottest days of the year so far, a heavy shower of rain just before the bride arrived and made it a typical Irish wedding day. Securities refused to allow John Ryan (their private photographer) to enter at the Wicklow registry office.

He tried to tell them he was the official photographer but they did’t believe him. It took a lot of phone calls before someone finally realized he was being held outside. It could have been a disaster.Nicky was driven to the back entrance with a silver Vauxhall Opel. Georgina had at arrived 3.42pm in a silver Ford Mondeo, smiling and wearing jeans and black and white top.

Nicky kept the bride waiting for 20 minutes before he made his entrance. Wearing a red Ferrari cap, blue T-shirt and jeans. After the ceremony Georgina was first to leave when she was driven away in a Mercedes jeep. Nicky waited for another 20 minutes to come out. He finally merged at 4.55pm but leapt straight into the front of purple Nissan jeep, which left with hordes of Fans rushing after it. Sources close to the couple said they celebrated their marriage last night with champagne at their Dublin home. One insider added: “They didn’t want to do anything too over-the-top and ruin all their excitement of the proper ceremony on Saturday.

  • Guests were kept waiting in the church by both the bride and the groom, who were late - not arriving until almost 4pm. One insider revealed that groom Nicky caused the biggest delay. She said: “he took longer to get ready than Georgina did.”
  • The mass was hold by 2 Iris priests, Fr. Michael McCullagh, Fr. Kevin Bartley. Fr Laurent Percerot was the lucky French priest that was allowed to celebrate the mass with them.
  • The bridal dress was designed by Limerick born designer Synan O’Mahiney and costed 80 000 Euro.
  • The train on Georginas wedding dress was 2 metres long.
  • Georgina's dress had 20,000 crystals sewn on to it.
